In a major development, the 65th annual convention of Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) will be held in Kunming, China, in November.

In a major development, the 65th annual convention of Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) will be held in Kunming, China, from November 27 to 30.

This is the first time in TAAIโ€™s history, founded in 1951, that the annual convention will meet in China, intended to be a step to boost tourism.

On September 18, 2018 in New Delhi, travel and tourism industry stakeholders witnessed the MOU signing ceremony between TAAI & Yunnan Provincial Tourism Development Commission (YPTDC).

There have been discussions for over a year between TAAI and YPTDC to organize the TAAI convention in the most beautiful and impressive city of China – Kunming in Yunnan Province. Kunming is directly connected from Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport (CCU) and has extensive connections via Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN), Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL), and Singapore Changi Airport (SIN).

A high-powered delegation from Yunnan along with officials from India joined TAAI to announce the 65th Convention & Exhibition of TAAI at Kunming, Yunnan, from November 27-29, 2018.

A press meeting was held in New Delhi which witnessed this announcement. It was a big welcome and including these dignitaries:

Ms. Shi Lin, Vice Director General of YPTDC
Ms. Liu Huibo, Vice Director of International Marketing Department of YPTDC
Ms. Fang Limin, Vice Director of International Marketing Department of YPTDC
Mr. Li Bijian, Deputy Chief Minister of the Embassy of China
Mr. Tianxin, Director of Indian Office of the Culture and Tourism, Ministry of China

Mr. Zhao Jun from the China Embassy was also present and representatives from the three Chinese airlines flying out of India โ€“ China Eastern, Shandong Airlines, and China Southern.

This important initiative will herald in a new level of tourism cooperation between India and China, whose tourism size and potential is immense, said TAAI President Sunil Kumar.
